On Saturday, January 30, Grammy-winning Kronos Quartet made its Exelon Family Series debut with Around the World with Kronos. Along with special guest Van-Anh Vanessa Vo, Kronos performed music spanning 4 continents and 9 countries. Following the performance, all audience members were invited to participate in a Q&A with the artists.

In addition to the performance Saturday, the Harris Theater hosted children and families from Turning the Page for a pizza party, educational activities, and a special pre-performance interaction with Van-Anh Vo. Turning the Page engages public school parents to be more effective and active participants in their children’s education, through partnerships with several elementary schools in the North Lawndale community.

Van-Anh gave the children a chance to play one of her instruments, the t’rung, encouraged everyone to participate through clapping and singing, and answered lots of questions from the very curious and excited group.

The Harris provided more than 300 underwritten tickets for this performance through the Access Tickets Program, to partners including Turning the Page, Merit School of Music, USO of Illinois, Cool Classics!, and several CPS elementary school partners. This engagement was made possible by Shana and Peter Ellis, lead sponsors. The Harris Theater gratefully acknowledges the generous support of Exelon, the Exelon Family Series Presenting Sponsor.
